The Institution of Central Florida (UCF) is a public research university in Orlando that was founded in 1963. It is one of the largest universities in the United States, with a total area of 1,415 acres, 800 of which are natural timber and grassland that serve as a natural habitat for dozens of native Florida species. The University of Central Florida includes over ten regional campuses throughout the state, including Ocala, South Lake, and Daytona Beach, in addition to its main campus in Orlando.
U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges guidebook named the University of Central Florida among the nation's 20 most creative universities in its 2020 edition. Forbes named the university one of the nation's most cheap colleges, and Kiplinger and The Princeton Review named it a best-value university.
The university has 13 colleges that specialise in various fields of study. Burnett Honors College, College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Performance, College of Graduate Studies, College of Health and Public Affairs, College of Medicine, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Nursing, Rosen College of Hospitality Management, College of Sciences and Undergraduate Studies, and College of Optics and Photonics are just a few of the colleges. From its main campus, downtown campus, hospitality campus, health sciences campus, online, and several regional campuses, the institution offers more than 220 degree programmes.
UCF is Florida's largest university by enrolment, with 68,571 students, including 58,913 undergraduates, 9,168 graduate students, and 490 M.D. students. It is located in one of the state's major cities and most popular tourist destinations (Fall 2018).
