About University of Arkansas

The University of Arkansas (the U of A) was founded on March 30, 1871, as a land-grant college known as Arkansas Industrial University. It is now one of the best universities in the United States. The University of Arkansas System's flagship campus opened in 1872 with a class of seven boys and one girl. In addition, in the first year, the overall enrolment climbed to over 100 pupils. The university completed work on a university hall, currently known as 'Old Main,' in 1885. The first class of the university graduated in 1876, and the first honorary degree was conferred in 1878. Following an editorial campaign by The Ozark in 1899, the university was given its current name.

The University of Arkansas, based in Fayetteville, offers a magnificent 412-acre campus with 378 well-maintained buildings, green spaces, parking places, and pathways. To ensure that students have an amazing learning experience, the institution provides superb academic, administrative, recreational, and support facilities. The university libraries are the primary source of knowledge for learning, teaching, and research, with a unique and uncommon collection of printed and digital materials. Students can stay on campus in the institution's 20 suites, apartments, and community-style residence halls. Over 200 programmes in agriculture, education, architecture, business, arts, sciences, health professions, design, food and life sciences, engineering, and creative writing are available through the university's ten academic institutions and colleges. It offers 94 undergraduate programmes, 79 postgraduate programmes, 39 doctorate and specialised programmes, and 27 graduate certificate programmes to meet the diverse career needs of students.

Why Arkansas State University

  • Campus life: ASU is small enough for students to feel like they're part of a family, yet large enough to provide a full university experience. Throughout the academic year, there are over 200 student groups and organisations that build new friendships, as well as cultural and entertainment activities.
  • The school's 1,376-acre campus has multiple on-campus housing alternatives, a medical facility, a state-of-the-art student exercise centre, and a variety of cuisine options to accommodate any unique dietary needs or interests.
  • Location: There are numerous recreational opportunities in Jonesboro, and the downtown area has busy restaurants and colourful stores with something for everyone to enjoy. Memphis, Tennessee (about an hour away) and Little Rock, Arkansas are both close by (2 hours away).
  • The average class size is 29 students, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 1:17.
  • Support for international students: In the International Programs building, the school has a tutoring facility where students can get help writing papers and comprehending course requirements. New students are also assisted by international ambassadors and domestic "buddies" as they adjust to life at ASU.
