Steven Institute of Technology is a private institution that was founded in 1870 and is one of the country's oldest technological institutes. The institute's main focus is in the subject of mechanical engineering. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education has granted it accreditation.
Stevens became the first major U.S. educational institution to require students to acquire and utilise personal computers in the classroom when it began accepting female students in 1971. Stevens also established one of the nation's earliest intranets around the same time, foreshadowing a revolution in information technology.
The institute provides 35 undergraduate degrees, 58 master's degrees, over 100 graduate certificates, and twenty-two doctoral programmes, as well as two interdisciplinary programmes. Civil engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, chemistry, business, mathematical science, physics, finance, and information systems are all part of the university's academic structure.
The Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering & Science, School of Business, School of Systems & Enterprises, and College of Arts and Letters are the three academic schools and one college on the campus. Students are supervised by well-trained faculty members. Students are also given the chance to visit the sector and learn from professionals. Furthermore, certain professionals come to the institute for guest lectures and workshop sessions to give students actual experience and knowledge.
The Samuel C. Williams Library, located on campus, includes a large collection of books, periodicals, magazines, e-books, research papers, and numerous manuscripts by Leonardo da Vinci. It also includes some of Alexander Calder's gorgeous and well-known artwork. The campus provides all of the amenities that students require, as well as a peaceful learning atmosphere. Restaurants and cafes are also close to the campus. It is close to a number of retail stores, ATMs, stationery stores, and pharmacies.
