Gannon University is a four-year private Catholic university that was founded in 1925. It was founded by John Mark Gannon as a college of arts and sciences under the 1925 charter of Villa Maria College. It was granted its own charter as a four-year men's college in 1944. It launched a graduate school in 1964, after becoming a co-educational institution. Finally, in 1979, the college was awarded university status, allowing it to offer higher education.
The university is located in downtown Erie, Pennsylvania, and is known for its liberal arts offerings. The institute is located near corporate centres, associations, and government agencies, all of which are active partners in assisting students in gaining a direct understanding of the industry and workplaces. In addition, the institution owns property in Ruskin, Florida. Apart from that, it also provides distance education through a variety of web-based programmes and courses that cater to the needs of both online and on-campus students.
More than 100 academic programmes are available at the institution, including 60 bachelor's degrees, 11 pre-professional programmes, 20 cooperative professional school alternatives, 6 associate degrees, 26 master's degrees, and 6 doctoral degrees. The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences, the College of Engineering and Business (including the Dahlkemper School of Business Administration), and the Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences make up the university's basic colleges. By the autumn of 2019, the institution has a total of 4,444 students enrolled.
In the same year, the institution had a total population of about 3,208 undergraduate and around 1,043 graduate students, representing a variety of nationalities. Furthermore, the student-to-faculty ratio in the normal class is 13:1.
