Drexel Institution is a global research university in Philadelphia that was founded in 1891. Previously, the university did not award a diploma. The university began conferring Bachelor of Science degrees in 1914. Its 18 departments were divided into four schools in the same year. The institution was awarded the right to award the Master of Science degree in 1927. The institution was granted authorization to award a Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1965. Drexel University provides over 200 degree programmes, including over 80 undergraduate majors, a dozen accelerated degree programmes, and 120 degrees and certificates. It is one of the top 15 largest private institutions in the United States, with 15 schools and colleges. College of Arts and Sciences, School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems, Lebow College of Business, College of Computing & Informatics, School of Education, and College of Engineering are all part of the Drexel University system. Close School of Entrepreneurship, Center for Food and Hospitality Management, Pennoni Honors College - Custom-Designed Major, Westphal College of Media Arts and Design, College of Nursing and Health Professions, Goodwin College of Professional Studies, and Dornsife School of Public Health are also part of the university. It offers a variety of approved online degrees and certificates in addition to graduate and undergraduate courses. The degree earned after completing an online course is comparable to the degree earned after completing a campus course.
Its site also has two beach volleyball courts, two tennis courts, a soccer field, an elevated running track, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a climbing wall, and exercise studios, among other outdoor sports amenities. The John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center, or DAC, is a swimming pool, five squash courts, a golf centre, and a gymnasium located on campus.
