University status was granted in 1992 tlll then it was called the Portsmouth  Polytechnic.

It is one of the Top 100 under 50 universities worldwide. The University now ranks 21st in the United Kingdom (Guardian University Guide 2020) and is rated highly for graduate satisfaction.

University of Portsmouth Campus

The campus consists of the University Quarter and the Langstone Campus. In Portsmouth Guildhall, the University Quarter is located, while in Milton, the Langstone Campus.

The University Quarter is the larger of the two campuses and consists of university buildings that lie throughout the city center. Teaching and residential options are available for students

The smaller of the campus on the eastern edge of the Portsea Island is Langstone, located in Milton. The campus overlooks the harbor in Langstone and the university is home to the sports facilities. There is also a restaurant for students and 565 students are lodged in 3 residential halls.

In the heart of the only island city in UK, the University of Portsmouth is located.

The campus is located next to the South Sea resort area where many students live-an area with a large open common area.

Portsmouth, which has a dockyard, historic sites, shops, bars, restaurants and museums within walking distance to the University, is an affordable and study popular city. Good train connections also make it easy to go somewhere else, London being less than 2 hours away.

University of Portsmouth Accommodation 

All new, full-time undergraduates who are their first choice and meet accomodation deadlines will be guaranteed rooms at the University of Portsmouth.

Students are invited to choose between a catering or a self-catering room with a common kitchen and a studio apartment with a kitchenette.

In 2015, Portmouth University won a £ 272,000 award in research on how best to deliver study programs in the UK from the Education and Training Foundation.

How to Reach? Or Travel

Rail :Nearest station is Portsmouth and Southsea.

There are daily direct trains from London Waterloo and London Victoria (2 hours), and regular Southampton, Bournemouth, Chichester, and Brighton services are available. Campus is also just a two hour journey from Bristol.

Air : Nearest Airports Southampton International(30 mins by car)  Heathrow and Gatwick airports (are only 1 hour 30 minutes from both by train)

Bus : Portsmouth also boasts excellent city bus services. Local and intercity bus services from The Hard Interchange main bus station, next to Portsmouth Harbor railway station. There's also a park and ride from the University campus 'M275 terminal with stops in the centre.
