University of Central Lancashire is a public university founded in Preston, Lancashire, England in 1828 as Institution For The Diffusion Of Useful Knowledge . Over the years, UCLan underwent various names and structural changes and adopted its current name in 1992, after it was granted university status by the Privy Council.
In terms of student numbers, Central Lancashire University is the 19th largest university in the UK.
