The University of Hull is a top-50 public research university. The college was founded as University College Hull in 1927. The college was granted the right to confer its own degrees on students by the Royal Charter of 1954. It consequently rose to become the third university in Yorkshire and the fourteenth in all of England. It now ranks among the top research and educational institutions in the world.
The university's campus is located in a residential neighbourhood of the port city of Kingston upon Hull in England. The University offers students on-campus housing in three central buildings: Westfield Court, The Courtyard, and Taylor Court. In addition, the campus has a variety of cafeterias, restaurants, a nightclub, a book store, a career service, an advising centre, and recreational facilities, with a new sports hall and gym set to open in 2019.
The university's academic structure is made up of four faculties that provide programmes at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate levels. Medical, life sciences, and social work degree programmes are offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences. Programs in applied and environmental sciences, technology, and mathematics are available through the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Students may enrol in business management, finance, accounting, marketing, international relations, and legal courses through the Faculty of Business, Law, and Politics.
