Teesside University is a public university with over 85 years of teaching experience in digital innovation, forensics, sports and health sciences. Its main campus is in Middlesbrough, in North East England Teesside. Earlier the university was referred to as the Constantine Technical University of. It acquired university status in 1992
University of Teesside changed its name to "Teesside University," in 2009. Alternative names included "Middlesbrough University" and "Tees Valley University." The University is strong in the area of forensic science With more than 20 years of experience in this field, it has the biggest UK course range in the area of forensic science and investigation, criminology and police training apart from that it excels in the field of sport and exercise, designing and animating computer games, many of which are accredited by professional bodies.
Research institutes at the University focus on research excellence in a number of key areas. This includes virtual environments, nanotechnology, rehabilitation, history and sociology.

The main and the newest campus of the university is the Darlington campus which is spread over 15,890 square ft. of land.
