Manchester Metropolitan is a public university in Manchester, England. Initially established as the Manchester Mechanics Institute IN 1824, the institution underwent a number of structural and name changes over the years before it became a university in 1992 under its current name.
It is one of the largest universities in the United Kingdom, with 4,400 staff members and 38,000 students enrolled, and is home to a diverse foreign student population from over 120 countries.
The University ranks among the world's top 200 universities under the age of 50 (Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2018).
The university consists of five faculties, twelve research centers and a number of departments, schools and programs of professional support that support the university's efforts.
85% of Manchester Metropolitan's research has a 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent' impact. The School of Architecture is ranked 7th in the world (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2018) and its Business School has prestigious AACSB and AMBA accreditations, making it one of the world's leading business schools.

Initially, Manchester Metropolitan University operated seven campuses across Manchester (All Saints, Aytoun, Didsbury, Elizabeth Gaskell, and Hollings) and in Cheshire (Alsager and Crewe). At present, it conducts education at two campus sites - All Saints and Cheshire.
The university made substantial investment in its late facilities, constructing a new student union building, new labs, a £10million fitness and sport science center, and a £6million contemporary arts center on its campus in Cheshire.
Manchester Metropolitan University is situated close to the city center with a combination of coffee shops, theaters, museums, department outlets, shopping malls, café bars, pubs and clubs .
