Leeds Beckett University (LBU) is a public university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England and is also known as Leeds Metropolitan University (LMU) and formerly Leeds Polytechnic university. It is one of the largest and most popular universities in the United Kingdom with over 25,000 students on 2 campuses in Leeds. It offers more than 150 degree courses in various fields, Law and Sports to Arts and Social Science and more than 190 postgraduate courses.
City Campus
City Campus of the University is located near the center of Leeds in England and consists of several academic and administrative buildings. The Broadcasting Place offers training in design, fashion, architecture and environment. Rose Bowl on the City Campus has learning areas, such as spacious classrooms, new meeting facilities and lecture halls. The campus also houses specialized health services such as a clinical information suite of £ 1 million as well as high technology labs in environment and biomedicine.
Headingley Campus
Leeds Beckett University also has a campus located about 3 miles from the city center in Beckett Park, Headingley. This campus houses first-class sports science labs, music and animation studios and advanced computer laboratories, as well as sports facilities such as pitches, an outdoor and indoor tennis courts and running track.
In November 2006, at the annual higher education awards ceremony presented by The Times Higher Education Supplement, the university received the award for "outstanding contribution to the local community."
In June 2013, Leeds Beckett University became only the third university in the UK to achieve the Customer Service Excellence standard, a government recognition awarded to public sector organisations that are dedicated to promoting customer-focused change within their organization.
