Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) was founded in 1993, after Glasgow Polytechnic and The Queen's College merged together.
GCU offers a wide variety of programs, from undergraduate to postgraduate and research programmes.
It houses more than 1,600 staff members and over 20,000 students from more than 100 countries around the globe.
It is the only university to offer an honorary degree in risk management and its fashion school based in London is the only one of its kind to offer an MBA in luxury brand management.
GCU has the world's first and only business school to offer triple-accredited degrees in financial services backed by three of the world's most influential banking and finance professional bodies: the Chartered Banker Institute (the world's oldest banking institution); the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, and the Institute for Operational Risk.
It is one of only 30 universities and colleges in the world that have been certified by Ashoka U as a 'Changemaker Campus' to promote higher education as a vehicle for social change. It is also the first Scottish university to get Living Wage Foundation accreditation.
The GCU has a distinguished campus and a variety of industry links in the private, public and third sectors that help to ensure that within 6 months of graduation 95% of graduates are working or studying further (HESA, 2018).
The university has collaborations with various international universities in countries like Australia, Canada, Chile, Hong Kong, Malaysia, United States, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Oman, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, and Germany.
GCU also has a presence in New York City and in Spitalfields in London, which offers postgraduate courses in fashion..
Glasgow is one of the top 20 'Best of the World' destinations by National Geographic Traveler. The city was also voted 'friendliest city in the world' in a Rough Guide poll, and the New York Times, The Guardian and Wanderlust described it as a must-visit destination.
With high street shopping malls like Buchanan Galleries, exclusive Princes Square development and Italian Center designer, Glasgow is second only to London for the best shopping experience in the UK.
The city boasts a large number of theatres, museums and galleries, including the famous Burrell Collection, and is home to the Scottish Opera, Ballet and National Orchestra. Like most cities, there are many cinemas in Glasgow, including four multiplexes and two independents — the largest is only a two-minute walk from the campus.
