About Cranfield University

Cranfield University is the only postgraduate university in the UK. The University was founded as the College of Aeronautics in 1946 and became the Cranfield Institute of Technology in 1967. It finally got its name Cranfield University in 1993, despite having been a full university since 1969.

Carnfield University is one of the world's leading schools with triple accreditation: AACSB International (Association for Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), AMBA (Association of MBAs) and EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System).

97% of University students are working or studying further six months after graduation to secure employment in some of the world's best-known organisations, including BP, Oxfam, Unilever, Airbus, Williams F1, Water Aid, Deloitte, Rolls-Royce, PwC and Singapore Airlines.

There are a variety of companies, both large and small, located in Cranfield University Technology Park.

Cranfield is the only university in the world to own and operate an airport and have the status of an airline.

Cranfield University Campus

The main campus is located at Cranfield in Bedfordshire, and the second campus is the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham in Oxfordshire. 

The School of Aerospace, Transportation and Manufacturing, the Cranfield School of Management and the School of Water, Energy and Environment are located on Cranfield campus. There is also a wide variety of exclusive, industrial-scale research facilities.

Cranfield campus in Shrivenham has a strong foundation in providing postgraduate education in Strategy, Leadership, Management and Technology.

  • Cranfield is packed with places to shop, eat and drink. It's about 50 miles from London, though Shrivenham is 80 miles from the capital city.

  • Cranfield provides both catered and self-catering housing on campus, from residence halls to shared residences. The University also offers housing for families.
  • The University can also help find private accommodation in nearby towns and villages. University rooms at Shrivenham campus are usually reserved for military students.

How to Reach? Or Travel

Cranfield University campus is a 40-minute train ride from central London, with Milton Keynes and Bedford being the nearest towns. London Luton Airport is the University's closest airport, while Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted are all easily accessible by train and bus.

Cranfield Defense and Security is approximately 50 minutes by train from London, and about 25 minutes by train from Bristol. Bath, Cheltenham, Bristol and Oxford are all within an hour's drive, and less than two hours' drive from London.
