Abertay began the first computer game graduation in the world in 1997. And it was also the first one to offer an Ethical Hacking Degree.
Abertay University has been UK's first university to offer a degree in computer arts, and the first to offer bioinformatics and biotechnology in Scotland. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, nearly two-thirds of Abertay's research in psychology and more than half sports scientific research is classified as 'internationally excellent' or 'leading world.'
It offers students a wide range of career services. Roughly 95 percent of graduates are employed or enrolled in further studies within six months of their final degree.
In five consecutive years from 2015 to 2019 Abertay was the number one graduate videogames training in Europe with the Princeton Review.
Abertay was the first university in UK Britain to be recognized as a center for excellence in computer gaming education and has a business support program for start-ups.
The University of Abertay has five residences for self catering. The size of the apartment ranges from single beds to apartments for multiple occupancies, all of them within walking distance to or from the University. The apartments are equipped with a fully equipped self-catering kitchen. There is also 24-hour security on campus.
The campus of Abertay University is located in the center of town, within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, bars and transportation hubs (rail, bus, air) to other locations.
The university is by road or rail, just over an hour from Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and 90 minutes from Glasgow. Newcastle, York and London are all on and within easy reach of the East Coast rail line.
