BUILD A CAREER AS A HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL

The BSc Professional Health Studies will help you to understand the relationship between integrated health and social care systems. This is an increasingly important area of health policy, holding the possibility of reducing healthcare costs and providing a better experience for healthcare system users.

You will develop critical and analytical problem-based learning skills as well as transferable skills which reflect the demands made of today’s healthcare professionals.

The course can also support individuals who wish to pursue a career within the health and social care system in roles such as healthcare project manager, patient advice and support officer, and senior clinical support worker. The degree achieves this by helping you to develop critical awareness of workplace factors that could be improved to improve the patient experience.

The course has been designed primarily for health and social care professionals such as support workers, nurses, social workers, paramedics and other allied health professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, counsellors and those providing holistic therapies.

COURSE DETAILS

This course aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to enhance your career in the health and social care sector. Over two years you will develop your knowledge and understanding of health and social care policy and practice, and develop solutions to enable delivery partners to work together in a more efficient and patient-centred way. 

The core themes of the degree are research skill development, professional development and contemporary healthcare issues. These themes help you to develop the graduate competencies and attributes that will help you to develop your career in health and social care and can be tailored to meet your individual interests or career goals. 

Additionally, this course can help you to gain accelerated entry onto a programme leading to a recognised nursing or a professional qualification.
