OVERVIEW
The BSc (Hons) Applied Bioscience equips you with the skills to pursue a career within biological sciences including molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology and immunology.
With excellent laboratory and work-related learning opportunities, career options include clinical, food & beverage, environmental or industrial sectors in addition to research and teaching.
Work-related learning is available including an optional 12-week placement or one-year sandwich placement. Students have undertaken placements with organisations such as the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow, Devro and Controlled Therapeutics (Scotland) Ltd.
PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
This degree has been accredited by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB) following an independent and rigorous assessment.
Accredited degrees contain a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge and key skills, and prepare graduates to address the needs of employers. The accreditation criteria require evidence that graduates from accredited degrees meet defined sets of learning outcomes, including subject knowledge, technical ability and transferable skills.
This course meets, in part, the academic and experience requirement for the Membership of the RSB and Chartered Biologist (CBiol) status.
