On the course you will gain an in-depth theoretical understanding of contemporary creative media. You will also develop practical skills and experience to support and motivate you – nurturing your ideas and business plans. Upon completion of this course you can look forward to being an independent production professional working across a wide range of media formats.
The course will help you progress from theory through to implementation, creating a bridge between your ideas and ambitions and actual contemporary business practices within competitive markets. It is important that you are able to adapt to the rapidly evolving media landscape and the contemporary culture of project-specific contracts. These contracts favour freelancers, self-employed contractors and independent producers. Past speakers include award-winning filmmakers, distributors, broadcasters and other leading media decision-makers.
On completing the course you should have a project portfolio that is ready for commissioning or financing. In addition, you will have gained a comprehensive and critical understanding of media production within competitive markets, plus the ability to critically analyse and evaluate your own strengths and weaknesses as an independent practitioner.
