Not only do we equip you with the skills to produce high quality journalism content across digital, print, audio and video, we also push the boundaries of what journalism is, to best serve the challenges of our ever-changing global community.

Our teachers are experienced professional journalists and leading researchers. They will encourage you to think innovatively and question professional norms and practices, to prepare you for a career in the challenging and transforming field of journalism.

You will have 24/7 access to specialist facilities such as a professional-standard news room, edit suites and a sound-proofed studio. You’ll also work in our news studio and will complete an internship with a media organisation.

Your future career

At Sussex, you’re given the chance to develop further real-world skills outside the classroom. 

You can write for our student newspaper, present a feature on our television channel, or host a programme on our radio station. You'll have the opportunity to go on work placements and gain real-world experience, and we also have links with Brighton newspaper The Argus, as well as a range of broadcasters.

Our expert teaching means you’ll develop skills in communication, writing concise copy, editing and reporting.  

You’ll be prepared for a range of careers including working in the national or international press, digital and broadcast media and public relations.

Academic qualification equivalents

  • 80% from ISC Indian School certificate of Education (CISCE)  or 80% from SSC All India Senior School Certificate Examination (CBSE)

English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS          :          6.5 overall, including at least 6.0 in each component
  • TOEFL        :          88 overall, including at least 20 in Listening, 19 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, 23 in Writing.
  • PTE             :           62 overall, including at least 56 in all four skills.
