About Education Studies BA (hons) in University of Sunderland

BA (Hons) Education Studies will give you a detailed understanding of the principles of education, and its systems and structures. You will critically explore all phases of education, from a range of historical, philosophical, sociological and psychological perspectives.

If you want to continue training and become a teacher, when you graduate from this course you will be guaranteed an interview for a University of Sunderland PGCE degree.

This course is taught via small group work, workshops, lectures, tutorials, computer-based learning, presentations and independent learning.

Your progress will be assessed with essays, reports, group work, seminar presentations and self-evaluation. Throughout the degree you'll have one-to-one support from academic staff.

Academic qualification equivalents

• Students who have successfully completed Standard XII examinations will be considered for entry onto our undergraduate degrees across the full disciplinary spectrum.

English Language Proficiency Qualifications Accepted

If an International Student applying for the University is from a nation where English is the First Language, it is required to Qualify in any of the Given Examinations as a minimum.

1. IELTS: A overall Score of 6.0 (with at least above 5.5 in each Component)
2. Pearson Test of English Academic: A minimum score of 56 with not less than 51 in each Skill.
3. Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: A grade of C or above.
4. Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: A grade of C or above.
