About Parasitology in University of Salford
Parasitology is the study of parasite organisms such as viruses, bacteria, worms or insects, parasitic diseases, and their impact on host species. Due to the ever-changing relationship between parasites and hosts, Parasitology is a dynamic and diverse and field of study.
Parasitologists make an invaluable contribution to our understanding of the biological functions within our world. Through cutting-edge scientific research, they explore how parasites fight to survive in their host, to enable them to identify solutions to eradicate many pandemic diseases that impact on society.
New for September 2019, MSc Parasitology at Salford offers a broad-based education in modern Parasitology, incorporating a significant element of module choice. Developed form our long-running Molecular Parasitology and Vector Biology postgraduate degree, the new programmes now provides an opportunity to choose the general MSc Parasitology programme, of follow one of three pathways: biomedical, genomic or wildlife.
You will:
- Study at a recognised centre for parasitology research with broadly-based expertise in all of the major platyhelminth groups, ectoparasitic arthropods and parasitic Protozoa
- Have the options to tailor your programme based on specialist interest through our specialist biomedical, genomic or wildlife pathways
- Learn in advanced industry-standard laboratories and facilities, with specialist equipment for studying parasitology
