Led by our IStructE award-winning civil engineering team, with strong links with industry, this accredited civil engineering honours degree course will equip you with the knowledge and skills, so you're ready to help create the infrastructure, buildings and facilities that improve our quality of life.
The course is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (Institution of Structural Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation, Institute of Highway Engineers) as fully satisfying the requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and partially satisfying the requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng).
This course is also available with an integrated masters route.
You will:
- Gain the ability to fulfil a range of civil engineering surveying tasks
- Acquire the skills to design simple structural steel, analyse statically indeterminate structures and design complex structures
- Identify and manage environmental issues and associated risks relating to civil engineering, including water, transport, landscape, heritage and biodiversity
- Build knowledge about materials and their fundamental behaviour, including geology, soil mechanics and laboratory testing
- Develop professional knowledge, design and analytical skills towards Chartered Engineer status, learning about the associated social, legal and environmental issues
