About Mechanical Engineering Msc in University of Portsmouth
Many things rely on mechanical engineering – from mobile phones and biomedical devices, to aircraft and power plants. If you're ready to take your engineering studies further, our MSc Mechanical Engineering degree course will give you the skills you need to advance your career.
On this course, you'll develop an advanced understanding of core mechanical engineering disciplines, including design and critical evaluation of structural integrity, computational fluid dynamics, advanced materials, energy and control systems. You'll also pick up valuable transferable skills in creative thinking, critical analysis and team working.
You'll plan and produce a personal research project, and we'll provide the expertise and support so you can develop your professional practice. Once you graduate, you'll have all the tools you need for a career as a mechanical engineer.
You can start this course in September or January (full time only in January).

For entry to our Master's programmes, you will generally need to have a Bachelor's degree with at least 2nd Class Honours to be considered.

English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: A minimum of IELTS band 6.5–7.0, with no component below 6.0.
- TOEFL iBT: For most of our Master's degrees, you need a score of 91 with a minimum of:20 in Reading 19 in Listening 21 in Speaking 20 in Writing.
- PTE: At least 61 points, with a minimum of 54 in each component
