The MSc Economics offers students rigorous training in economic theory and analytical methods to answer pressing socio-economic questions. It places much emphasis on using the appropriate theoretical framework for interpreting various current economic and financial issues. These include the economic impact of rising US trade tariffs, Brexit, shocks in exchange rates, China as an economic power, reducing poverty, and the rise in global market power of firms.

The programme provides students with the option of two pathways: the ‘Economics Pathway’ and the ‘Financial Economics Pathway’. Under each pathway, modules have been introduced to provide students with advanced training in economics or financial economics.

The MSc Economics is an excellent opportunity for students who pursue a career in global industry, banks or government organisations after having developed sophisticated understanding of the economy and acquired state-of-the-art analytical skills. It is also well suited for students who wish to continue a professional research career, for instance working within international organisations or research institutes.

The MSc Economics is embedded in the rapidly growing Economics Group at the Management School.  The course modules are inspired by world class research of its faculty, publishing in the leading academic journals whilst maintaining close relationships with the financial world, industry and government organisations.
