Event management is a fascinating career that can see you working on inspiring projects all over the world. It offers a balance of theoretical and practical learning that explores the latest trends and practices in the events management, tourism and hospitality business. It’s also ranked inside the top 10 of the Guardian University League Table 2019 for tourism, hospitality and event management. Our course draws on the latest theories and global case studies to explore why some events succeed and others fail. You’ll learn about event marketing, risk and security and hospitality operations. You’ll also have the chance to study abroad in one of our partner universities worldwide and to take an optional six-month internship at Walt Disney World, Florida, and study at the University of California Riverside.
Here at Hertfordshire Business School, we’re firmly focused on enterprise and employability. That’s why, throughout this degree, we give you opportunities to gain valuable, real-world work experience with innovative events organisations specialising in sports, concerts, festivals and corporate functions.
We’ll help you find summer internships, take up fascinating work shadowing opportunities and even go on an optional year-long work placement between your Second and Third Year. In the past, our students have completed placements with leading businesses and charities including Walt Disney, Bluehat Group, the British Fashion Council, Givergy and Hope for Children.
You can also choose to broaden your horizons by spending a year studying at one of our partner universities in Europe, North America or Australia. We have optional language modules you can take before you go and you can even choose to study abroad for half the year and work there for the other half – getting the best of both worlds.
In fact, our partnership with Walt Disney and the University of California Riverside gives you the chance to study and work in the USA on a fantastic internationally renowned programme.
However you choose to spend your year abroad, it’s a life-changing adventure and you’ll come back with exceptional, career-boosting experiences and skills.
