About MA Literary Translation in University of East Anglia UEA
What do Karl Knausgård, Valeria Luiselli and Clarice Lispector have in common with Jo Nesbø, Georg Trakl and Yoko Tawada? They’ve all been translated into English by graduates from the MA Literary Translation at UEA. On this course you’ll focus exclusively on literary translation, combining translation practice with translation theory. You’ll gain the academic qualification needed for a career as a professional translator, as well as laying the foundation for further academic research.
We have been training literary translators for twenty-five years. Our students have gone on to become award-winning translators, writers, editors and academics.
The course is supported by the British Centre for Literary Translation (BCLT).
Academic qualification equivalents
- Holders of an Indian four year Bachelor degree with at least 52% will be considered for postgraduate study. The requirement will vary depending on examination board and course applied for.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS :6.5 overall with minimum of 6.0 in each component
- TOEFL IBT:88 Reading:20,Writing:19,Listening:19,Speaking:21
