About Mres Business Research Methods in University of Dundee
Most people probably think that research in accounting and finance is "all about numbers", but that really couldn't be further from the truth! Indeed, there is much more to accounting and finance research. This course allows students the opportunity to study the advanced aspects of accounting or finance with staff that have a sound knowledge of the technical aspects of their subjects.
This course is specifically designed to prepare you for further study such as a PhD. Under the supervision of our highly-rated Accountancy team you’ll have a wide choice of modules allowing you to specialise in your chosen area of focus.
You’ll gain the skills you need for your doctorate by studying extended versions of Research Methods & Methodology and Quantitative/Econometric Methods. Uniquely this course offers you the opportunity to undertake a Directed Reading module so you’ll pursue a programme of study specially designed for you by your PhD supervisory team.

This specialised course is designed for students intending to pursue further study (e.g. PhD). Recent graduates are undertaking doctoral studies in the UK and elsewhere with graduates employed in universities all over the world. A small number are pursuing other types of work for organisations in the UK and overseas.
Academic qualification equivalents

Bachelor’s degree with 55% or above considered from University of Delhi, University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, IITs and IIMs (considered equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree)
Bachelor’s degree with 60% or above required from other institutions (considered equivalent to a UK 2.1 degree)
A Bachelor’s degree with 50% or above may be considered comparable to a UK 2.2 degree.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: The requirement for most undergraduate and postgraduate degrees is IELTS 6.5 overall with a 6.0 in writing and 6.0/5.5 minimum in the other three components.
- TOEFL (iBT): 88 overall, including at least 21 in Listening, 20 in Reading, 20 in Speaking, 23 in Writing.
- PTE: 62 overall, including at least 56 in all four skills
