About Journalism BA (hons in Robert Gordon University

This is an intensive and practical Journalism degree which will equip you with the key skills you will need for a demanding career in Journalism or related industries. You will study the ways that news is sourced, regulated, produced and consumed, and examine the effects of this output on audiences.

You will gain considerable practical experience in reporting and production across print, broadcast and electronic platforms. You will learn first-hand from experienced journalists by participating in ‘live’ projects, visiting local broadcasting organisations and listening to guest speakers.

You will have the opportunity to experience a day as a journalist; sourcing stories, interviewing, filming and editing your report as part of our dedicated News Days.

Throughout this course you will develop specialist and transferable skills all of which are essential for the wider media profession.

​​​Academic qualification equivalents

• The Standard Indian XII (10+2) examinations from CBSE, CISCE or State Boards of Higher Secondary Education are acceptable for admission to our Bachelor degree programmes.

An average mark of 70 - 85% or higher (best of 5 academic subjects) in the Standard Indian XII Higher Secondary School certificates awarded by the central boards (CBSE, CISCE) or a state board, or equivalent, with 75% or higher where subject requirements are stipulated (comparable with Grade B at A Level).

English language requirements (one of the below):

•  IELTS: 6.0 with minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
• TOEFL iBT : 80  with minimum marks as follows: Listening - 17,Reading - 18,Speaking - 20
  Writing - 17
• PTE:56 overall  with minimum of 51 in each component
