Materials And Design in Queen Mary University of London, UK
Materials And Design in Queen Mary University of London
The programme offers a stimulating environment in which to achieve your academic and creative potential, with a strong emphasis on original design work.
Your first two years are built around core Design Studio modules – tutorial-style sessions where you are encouraged to think and develop as an independent designer, supported by academic staff and industry professionals. You’ll gain computer-aided design (CAD), conceptual design and practical manufacturing skills. Alongside, more theoretical modules teach you the scientific and mathematical principles underpinning materials science.
Your studies culminate in a final-year individual project exploring a research area in materials. All students present their projects in the Queen Mary Design Show.
If you choose the MEng degree you’ll carry out a further ambitious group project in the fourth year, experiencing product development from inception to realisation.
