Global Health Geographies Mres in Queen Mary University of London
We live in a world of remarkable health challenges: from emerging infections and non-communicable diseases to weak health systems and unequal access to medicines. In meeting these challenges, it is clear that improving global health requires a critical understanding of the complex relationship between health, politics, and social and spatial inequalities in wealth and power.
This MRes follows the same path as the MA in Global Health Geographies, and includes modules considering global health geographies and global health and biomedicine. You will gain a background in geographical thought and practice. In addition, you will cover core modules in research design, qualitative and quantitative methods. You will share these modules with students from King’s College London and Imperial College, as part of the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS-DTP).
The module Researching Global Health and Biomedicine includes the opportunity to travel to Geneva, Switzerland on fieldwork to visit institutions and meet individuals involved in the shaping of global health politics.
You will receive tailored research supervision and training suitable to your individual research interests. Your dissertation can include fieldwork conducted in the UK or overseas.
