About Midwifery Sciences Bsc in Queen's University Belfast
Midwifery is a rewarding, dynamic and highly skilled profession. This course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and attributes to deliver woman and family centred, safe and effective care, and work alongside interdisciplinary teams in maternity services as a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered midwife.
You will have the opportunity to learn in our state-of-the-art clinical skills and simulation suite and complete practice placements in a range of clinical settings including hospital and community with our internationally-recognised training partners. An international elective placement (optional) is offered in your final year to explore the context of international midwifery care. The course is split equally between tuition in QUB and in clinical practice.
The course is taught by midwifery experts in education and research, clinicians and specialist practitioners who will support you in becoming a caring, compassionate and competent midwife providing high quality care. The inclusion of interdisciplinary learning throughout the three year course will enrich your experience and prepare you for working together in practice.

Academic qualification equivalents
- The Standard Indian XII (10+2) examinations from CBSE, CISCE or State Boards of Higher Secondary Education are acceptable for admission to our Bachelor degree programmes.
An average mark of 70 - 85% or higher (best of 5 academic subjects) in the Standard Indian XII Higher Secondary School certificates awarded by the central boards (CBSE, CISCE) or a state board, or equivalent, with 75% or higher where subject requirements are stipulated (comparable with Grade B at A Level).
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: 6.5 minimum of 5.5 in all four elements of the test
- TOEFL iBT : 90 with minimum marks as follows: Listening - 17,Reading - 18,Speaking - 20,Writing - 17
- PTE: 62 overall with minimum of 51 in each component
