Course Details
Gain an insight into the fast-paced worlds of both PR and journalism and learn how skills in these areas can overlap to offer up a range of exciting career opportunities. On this course, you will experience the world of reporting - from sourcing and editing news stories to working on rolling news items under the pressure of strict deadlines. You will learn how to write for print, digital and online media, changing your style from impartial to persuasive. You will also develop expertise in crisis and reputation management and in organising media campaigns.

If you choose to study this course over four years, you can work for one year in the industry.
You will have the opportunity to learn from individuals at the top of their industry through our guest lecture series. Past speakers include Kitty McGee who studied on our PR degree and is now the Executive Fashion Director at Stylist magazine, the past Chair and President of the Academy of Marketing, Russell Craig Senior Director of Media and Community Relations at Asda and the Editor of Cosmopolitan magazine.
Our dedicated employability and placements office will support you and provide you with access to a wide range of vacancies from local, national and international employers. Pre-placement guidance and seminars are available on topics such as CV and letter writing, how to succeed at interview, assessment centres and psychometric tests.
You will also take part in a number of simulated news events and work with clients on live briefs gaining a real feel of this dynamic media environment. As well as the opportunity to work with a variety of employers, you will also access our purpose-built facilities, which include ICT suites, a news and simulated press room, TV and radio studios.

Standard 12th qualifications (CBSE/ICSE or State Boards of equivalent)
Grade: Minimum aggregate of 60% and above
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS 6.0 with no skill below 5.5
- All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) – English Grade 70%
