This physical education course will offer a multidisciplinary experience to fit your individual career goals and learning needs. You will study all aspects of physical education, including best practice in teaching and learning, the scientific principles which underpin PE and the benefits of lifelong physical activity.
The PE degree provides a pathway of practical activities available throughout your three years, which set us aside from many of our competitors. These activities will allow you to gain hands-on experience in a variety of settings including teaching PE in schools, or leading community groups. A choice of option modules will enable you to develop expertise in specialist areas to maximise your opportunities and enhance your employability prospects.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION STUDENT RESIDENTIALS
As part of your first year, you will have the opportunity to experience activities in a setting associated with your studies. This may include a residential or field trips, which will support your on-campus learning and enhance your future career prospects.

As well as practical sessions which explore approaches to teaching and learning within the physical education discipline, you will also use our specialist sports science laboratories to study human movement. Your theoretical and practical experience will be enhanced by learning in the work place, which can include local primary and secondary schools, community youth groups or professional sports clubs.
SPORT VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
We offer a sport volunteering programme for anyone with an interest in sport. If you want to stay ahead of the game and have a competitive advantage in the job market, then sport volunteering is an ideal way to gain extra knowledge and skills on top of your degree. Volunteering is a huge advantage if you want to pursue a career in the sports industry - and it will look great on your CV.
On top of this, you can also enhance your experience by gaining nationally recognised sporting qualifications such as UK Coaching Certificates and gym and personal trainer qualifications, which are both available at the University.
