In the global marketplace, sustainable organisational growth demands successful and innovative communication between brands and target audiences. This accredited course will develop your expertise in the management of integrated marketing communications and advertising at a strategic level and in broader marketing areas such as market research and digital communications. On completion of this course, your communications expertise will enable you to build relationships with specific target audiences in order to support the achievement of business objectives and development.
This course offers the opportunity to take a ‘sandwich’ year – a year of paid employment in industry which will build your skills and experience. This is usually taken between the second and third year of your degree, typically making your course four years in total. Students who choose the sandwich route find it helps with both their studies and getting a job after graduation. It can build your confidence, contacts, and of course your CV. Course Benefits
There are opportunities for you to be mentored by marketing practitioners, broaden your experience by studying overseas, hear guest lecturers from the world of marketing and advertising, and take a placement year in a diverse range of organisations including blue chip companies, the public and private sector and small to medium sized enterprises. Students from marketing courses have worked in organisations such as Asda, Creative Race, SmartMedia and T D Waterhouse to name a few.
Our dedicated employability and placements office will support you and provide you with access to a wide range of vacancies from local, national and international employers. Pre-placement guidance and seminars are available on topics such as CV and letter writing, how to succeed at interview, assessment centres and psychometric tests.
We also have close links with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and upon graduation you will obtain Dual Award CIM status, which means that if you graduate with a 2:2 or higher, you will be exempt from studying the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Certificate in Professional Marketing. You will also only need to study two of the three modules on the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing in order to gain this qualification. During your time on the course, you can also study CIM modules through the Graduate Gateway programme.
You can also arrange summer internships with some organisations. Should you want to source a placement yourself you have the flexibility of making your own arrangements subject to approval from the Placements Office.
