By following the Cybersecurity route through this degree programme, you will gain knowledge of the fundamental concepts behind computer and network security and acquire the practical understanding and technical skills for the design and implementation of modern secure solutions.
The fundamentals of programming, algorithms, and computer architecture are covered early in our programme, so that no in-depth previous experience is necessary for you to move on to the more advanced topics that will help you build a competitive CV.
This specialism is informed by research; you will explore practical application of cutting-edge techniques on real-world problems and later spend time examining current research topics and applying proposed approaches from the literature to practical scenarios.
You’ll study industry and research informed modules designed by leading academics, and benefit from strong business links, dedicated career support, and many extracurricular activities.
In particular, the specialism covers security at different levels, providing a solid introduction to cryptography and network security, while also including interdisciplinary modules on cybercrime and digital forensics. The implications of security with regards to human-machine interaction may also be discussed in modules such as Web Technologies, Mobile Application Development and Introduction to Interaction Design. The final year dissertation is an opportunity to explore your subject of choice in depth and is an excellent showcase of your skills.
