About Mathematics With Finance And Economics Bsc (hons) in City University London
This degree has been developed to help you explore the different aspects of modern mathematics, economic theory and financial structures.
To help you prepare for your future career ambitions, this course places an emphasis on applied mathematics. Objectives
Taught by specialists from the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Economics and City’s Cass Business School, the Mathematics with Finance and Economics BSc (Hons) at City will prepare you for a rewarding future career in a range of sectors or a variety of postgraduate study options.
The course will provide you with an understanding of mathematical methods – including computing and computational mathematics, statistics and probability – and how to apply them to real-world problems.
You will also develop your knowledge of financial and economic theory, such as financial markets, corporate finance, and micro- and macroeconomics.
As well as giving you a sound theoretical foundation, the course also has a practical and vocational edge, offering an exciting opportunity to find a paid, one-year placement after your second year. Placements are paid up to £25,000 pro rata per year, with some organisations choosing to exceeding this.

Direct Entry to 1st Year:
Year 12 Grade – cumulative score of 65% and above.
Advanced Entry to 2nd Year:
Year 12 Grade – cumulative score of 75% and above. Advanced entry is possible on a range of courses. Student applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: 6.0 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
- PTE Academic: 58 overall with a minimum of 51 in each component.
