About Engineering Beng (hons) in City University London
City's broad BEng (Hons) Engineering course is ideal for students with a strong grounding in Mathematics and Science who wish to develop their capabilities in logic and problem-solving. The interdisciplinary nature of the degree course means a wide variety of career paths will be available to graduates.
This course is also available as a four-year integrated Masters - MEng (Hons) Engineering - or as a five-year integrated Masters including a professional placement.
Objectives
This new degree responds to the demand for engineers enthused by tackling cross-disciplinary challenges, in particular through the development of advanced engineering software (using high-performance computers) and use of digital manufacturing.
The continual growth in computer speed, storage capabilities and visualization techniques, together with greater levels of understanding of the physics that explains our world, has led to remarkable improvements in the fidelity of engineering simulations.
Academic qualification equivalents

Direct Entry to 1st Year:
Year 12 Grade – cumulative score of 65% and above.
Advanced Entry to 2nd Year:
Year 12 Grade – cumulative score of 75% and above. Advanced entry is possible on a range of courses. Student applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS: 6.0 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
- PTE Academic: 58 overall with a minimum of 51 in each component.
