Course Overview
The International Economics & Finance degree seeks to provide an appropriate mixture of economics and finance modules to provide students with a combination of economics and finance analytical skills as well as a strong understanding of UK and international financial markets. We provide students with tools of analysis to enable complex, dynamic analysis of the global financial environment.
The unique strength of our course is the clear emphasis on application and critical understanding. We are proud to be the first new university to adopt the new CORE curriculum. The International Economics & Finance programme develops highly skilled individuals that are able to undertake analytical tasks rather than just knowing about finance and economics.
Our tutors are specialists in Entrepreneurship, Labour Economics, International Political Economy, Game Theory, Finance, Investment, Marketing, Strategic Management, and Regional Economics. They work with organisations such as the Welsh Government and Government Economic Service, to ensure our curriculum is cutting edge and relevant.
Students have the opportunity to obtain the Bloomberg Market Concepts Certificate using the School's Bloomberg suite.

The provision of work-placements as an assessed part of your academic programme of learning is so important that we provide you with the opportunity to undertake placement as part of your second year studies. We have strong links with the business community and the work-placement programme is designed to enhance your future employability prospects.
Progression to postgraduate study within the Cardiff School of Management is also an option.
