The Master of Information Technology is an 18 month full-time programme that aims to enable students who have a bachelors degree in IT or computing to achieve a postgraduate level qualification in information technology.
This programme has been designed to produce IT graduates who are able to think critically and have a number of high level skills in IT field that can be applied in a wide range of IT situations.
Outline
The MIT programme provides a post graduate pathway for students who have already completed an approved and relevant Post Graduate Diploma, or who have achieved a high grade-point average IT Bachelors’ Degree.
The MIT programme builds upon existing knowledge and skills, focusing on research and professional practice through project work, case studies, real-life simulations, and practical work experience, to be able to apply recent best-practice into a NZ organisational context.
The structure of the MIT promotes flexibility through the diversity of student interests and a wide range of IT functions, encouraging participants to apply research skills to identify solutions of relevance to their background or likely future roles.
In the state-of-the-art Information Technology Complex, there are nine networked computer laboratories usually with 24 student stations in each. The rooms are environmentally controlled, with data show equipment in each room. There are specific labs for software development, hardware, multimedia and a room for computer study. The facility also has a 50-seat tiered lecture theatre.
