About Master In Medicine (m.m. / P.grad.dip) in Trinity College Dublin
The course aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and competence to extend their professional role within the healthcare system.
On successful completion of this programme, students should be able to:
· Implement all legal and ethical requirements pertaining to the contemporary practice of medicine
· Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the principles of health service management and be capable of incorporating these into clinical practice
· Critically appraise research data and write research reports
· Evaluate the key concepts of global health and examine the major challenges affecting health systems and health outcomes globally
· Discuss the role of the doctor in the primary and secondary prevention of disease at population level
· Manage all aspects of patient care, including adverse outcomes, as part of a multi-disciplinary
· Evaluate research hypotheses, the design of experimental studies and the scientific and ethical conduct of research
In addition to obligatory “core” modules, students will be able to choose optional modules according to their chosen career pathway. Their research project will also reflect their chosen optional pathway of learning.
Who should apply
The course is open to those who meet the following
criteria:
- Medically qualified (MB, BCh, BAO or hold an equivalent qualification from a recognised medical school)
- Registered with the Medical Council of Ireland (or
equivalent overseas regulatory body)
- Have at least 2 years’ post registration experience (candidates with less experience may be accepted on a case-by-case basis).
In addition each candidate will attend for interview to
determine suitability for the course.
Academic qualification equivalents
- Hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS:(academic version) 6.5 (no individual band below 6)
- TOEFL : Paper-based 570 (with a TWE score of 4.5) Computer-based 230 (with a score of 4.5 in essay) Internet-based 90 (with a written score of 21)
- PTE: Academic a minimum score of 63 (with no Communication Skills section score below 59)
