The course is aimed at all specialists and managers in companies who are responsible for establishing new fields of application as well as planning and implementing projects in the areas of BI consulting, business analytics, project engineering and information analytics. You can either study part-time in weekend blocks or classically full-time.

The amount of structured and unstructured data available to companies today from internal and external data sources is growing rapidly. This data must be used to address customers individually, to establish new business areas or to optimize business processes.

The course "Big Data and Business Analytics" is about asking the right big data questions from the business context, identifying and analyzing the right data and finally communicating the analysis results back to the company in a targeted manner.

Structural structure of the course and course model

The full-time course is structured structurally into the 5-week blocks that are customary at the university and includes a mix of case studies that become larger and more complex each semester and accompanying specialist courses, the contents of which are directly incorporated into the case studies. In the first semester, all necessary basic knowledge and methods are taught. The second and third semesters are self-contained.

The course is aimed at all specialists and managers in companies who are responsible for establishing new fields of application and for planning and implementing projects in the field of big data and business analytics:

  • Specialists with a degree in (business) computer science, mathematics or engineering who want to continue their training in the field of business analytics or big data analytics and who want to plan and coordinate big data projects independently.
  • Business analysts or specialists who work in the "Business Intelligence" environment and who want to continue their training in the fields of big data engineering, big data management and big data analytics and who want to plan and coordinate big data projects independently.

Entrance criteria

  • extra-occupational / part-time: bachelor degree with 210 ECTS credit points in computer science, business informatics or a related field and a minimum of one year qualified and subject-relevant professional experience in one of the following areas: IT, marketing, logistics, production or finance. If you have gained a bachelor degree with 180 ECTS credit points, you can make up for the missing credit points and qualifications if you can provide proof of several years of work experience or completed further training courses.
  • full-time: bachelor degree with 180 ECTS credit points in computer science, business informatics or a related field and a minimum of one year qualified and subject-relevant professional experience in one of the following areas: IT, marketing, logistics, production or finance.
  • IELTS 6.5, TOEFL iBT 80 (TOEFL code of SRH: 7712), Duolingo Certificate 95, PTE Academic 58 or other proof of English proficiency

Tuition fees

720 EUR per month part-time / 790 EUR per month full-time + one-time registration fee of 750 EUR

Applicants from countries with a visa obligation need to pay a one-time registration fee of 1,000 EUR and must pay the first year’s tuition fee in advance.
