PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The financial services sector is diverse and ever growing. Today, individuals and families are looking to financial experts to help them navigate and plan their lives in a way that is financially sound and secure. Graduates from the Business Administration – Finance program will have specialized knowledge in the field of finance. Students will be given an in-depth education on various areas of this industry, including Canadian securities, insurance products, and personal financial planning, along with the marketing skills needed to sell financial services and products. It’s a field of study that leads to a wide variety of career possibilities.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
- Third-year work placements in a financial institution for qualifying students, which allows for practical experiential learning and networking opportunities with possible future employers.
- Provides training to write the licensing exams for the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Life License Qualification Program (LLQP).
- Up-to-date computer labs using financial planning software that is similar to the programs currently used by professionals in the field of finance.
- Opportunity for qualifying graduates to complete a Bachelor of Commerce (B. Comm.) from Nipissing University on the St. Clair College campus.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Opportunities exist for entry level positions in financial institutions including banks and credit unions, investment firms, stock and mortgage brokerages, credit departments and insurance companies.
Academic qualification equivalents
- High school diploma and Grade 12 transcript. or equivalent in original language and English translation.
English language requirements (one of the below):
- IELTS : Overall band of 5.5 No single test score below 5.0
- TOEFL : Overall 61 with Writing, Reading, Listening and Speaking minimums of 15
- PTE : Minimum score 51
