The Audio Engineering + Entertainment Double Degree gives students who are interested in both the technical and business sides of the entertainment industry the best jump-start into a career.

Students will undertake fundamental audio units such live sound, recording, producing and post-production, and then pair it with key business and management subjects such as event and marketing management, marketing strategy, copyright management, international business strategy, and publishing.

Collarts also offers students a variety of real-life industry experiences so that they are career-ready when they graduate. Through our industry partnerships with Drexel University, Laneway Festival and more, students have opportunities to partake in overseas exchange programs and summer camps, sought-after internships and hands-on experience at major festivals.

Throughout the Double Degree, you will:

  • Learn and perfect recording studio techniques;
  • Create professional-quality recordings;
  • Manage live audio production to a professional standard;
  • Work on industry projects alongside musicians and entertainment managers;
  • Develop specialist recording and post-production skills;
  • Explore new music and audio technologies;
  • Manage, promote and produce live events;
  • Gain knowledge and experience in artist and tour management;
  • Access career pathways through our industry partnerships and placements;
  • Undertake a 60-hour work placement;
  • Complete two degrees in 3 years full-time (or part-time equivalent).

Academic qualification equivalents

  • High school transcripts that demonstrate successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent. These transcripts must be certified and translated (if originals are not in English).

 English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 6.0) or equivalent (TOEFL or PTE equivalent can also be accepted). Applicants for the Diploma of Entertainment Journalism will require an IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.5) or equivalent. Collarts can also recommend English language colleges with a direct pathway if you need to study English before you start.

As well as a successful interview and/or audition, and/or submission of personal statement, you must be able to submit the following documents:
