About Texas State University

Texas State University was founded in 1899 and is part of the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration, the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities, and the Texas State University System. Southwest Texas State Normal School was the university's previous name. It was renamed to its current name in 2013. The university is ranked as the fifth largest in the state of Texas. The first classes were held in 1903.

San Macros campus, the main university campus, is spread out over 507 acres. The campus has all of the amenities that students require. Sewell Park, formerly known as Riverside Park and was built in 1917, is also located on campus. In 1949, it was renamed to its current name. The Old Main Campus, which was completed in 1903, is the university's other campus. The Departments of Mass Communication & Journalism and Fine Arts & Communication are both located on campus.

Undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programmes are available at the university. According to a 2019 study, the university has 38,231 students. College of Education, College of Applied Arts, College of Liberal Arts, College of Health Professions, College of Business Studies, College of Fine Arts, College of Science & Engineering, Graduate College, Institution College, and Honors College are the ten colleges that make up the university.
