Bishop Walter W. Curtis created Sacred Heart University in 1963. At the time, the main goal of this university was to provide education to all members of society, regardless of creed, ethnicity, sex, or religion. It currently provides undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting, communications, nursing, and engineering, among other subjects.
St. Vincent's College, the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology, the College of Health Professions, the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Communication, Media & the Arts, the School of Social Work, the School of Computer Science and Engineering, the College of Nursing, and the Isabelle Farrington College of Education are the six colleges that make up the university. It is the only university in Luxembourg that offers a certified American MBA programme.
SHU's main campus is in Fairfield, Connecticut, which is close to both Boston and Manhattan. Stamford and Griswold are the locations of the satellite campuses. The institution also has two foreign campuses, one in Ireland and the other in Luxembourg. Dining facilities, health care facilities, a broadcast centre, and an arts centre are just a few of the student-friendly features available on the main campus. The university provides students with complimentary shuttle services that run throughout the week. Additionally, students have access to on-campus housing.
The university invites international students from more than 40 different nations. The Conley Award, the Trustee Scholarship, the Community College Scholarship, and the College Scholarship are just a few of the university's many scholarships and grants available to students. The average class size at Sacred Heart University is 21 students, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 13:1. SHU has campuses in Luxembourg and Dingle, Ireland, and provides approximately 20 study abroad programmes to students in 17 countries across the world.
