Boston Institution, or BU, is a private, non-profit research university in Boston, Massachusetts, with over 35,000 students from over 130 countries. The institution, which was founded in 1839, is one of Boston's largest and the fourth largest in the United States. According to the Times Higher Education, Boston University graduates are the most employable in the United States and the world, ranking 5th and 6th, respectively. BU is a member of the distinguished Association of American Universities, which consists of 62 of the most prestigious research universities in North America. The Boston Consortium for Higher Education also includes BU.
Boston University offers a variety of popular degrees, including mechanical engineering, computer science, economics, international relations, psychology, communications, and business. Culture is a key component of BU, with over 500 concerts and plays and 50+ exhibitions each year. More than 20 NCAA Division I university sports are represented at BU.
