About Sociology Major in Youngstown State University
We live in a social world that operates differently across demographics. Studying sociology will give you the tools to work with people of different ages, cultures, races and genders to build stronger communities.
Courses in the major let you study social stratification and learn about the inequality different groups face. You'll widen your perspective of the social problems that arise in the world and the different approaches people take to solve them.
The Sociology program prepares you to work in government agencies, businesses, hospitals, education and urban affairs. You'll have the opportunity for professional growth by interning with a regional organization such as the Mahoning County Planning Commission, Mahoning County Sheriff's Office and Park Vista Retirement Community.
