About Social Work Major in Youngstown State University
The Social Work major exposes you to contemporary issues in the field and prepares you for direct service work. Not only will you learn about policies and methods, but you'll be prepared to enter the profession after graduation, working in settings such as public and private welfare agencies, mental health centers, educational systems, correctional institutions, and business and industry.
Through your courses you'll integrate new knowledge, values and skills into competent practice with individuals, families, organizations and communities. A practicum component also gives you the opportunity to apply theories and concepts to practical work with a regional agency and a professional field instructor.
