An undergraduate emphasis in Cognition can prepare you for advanced degrees and careers in medicine, research, education, government and more. Cognitive science is the study of how the brain represents, transforms and processes information. Students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science with a Cognition emphasis complete their study within the College of Science's School of Mind, Brain and Behavior. This major provides students with a broad interdisciplinary foundation while allowing them to choose an emphasis that suits their interest. The Cognition focus encompasses cognitive functioning, development and disorders across the areas of decision-making, reasoning, attention, perception, memory, language and consciousness. Undergraduates engage in faculty research and prime themselves for graduate studies and professional careers.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Core knowledge-specific content; Students will develop a firm understanding of the theories, fundamental principles and concepts, and technologies of brain organization and function from both neuroscience and cognitive science perspectives.
