About Dentistry, Ms in University of Alabama At Birmingham
If you're interested in academic dentistry, then maybe you should cut your teeth in our master's program. In fact, we specifically offer this degree to both prepare qualified teachers in the field, as well as produce fully trained dental specialists.
To earn your degree, you can follow one of two paths. In the first, if you hold a BS, a BA with a science major, or a DMD, DDS, or BDS degree, you'll have the opportunity to earn an MS in Dentistry with a focus on Dental Biomaterials or Oral Biology. For the second, you can apply to be accepted in our postdoctoral residency program in Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Endodontics, Periodontology, or Prosthodontics in order to pursue an M.S. in Dentistry with a research focus in your respective discipline. Regardless of your track, you will complete at least 30 credit hours of graduate course work. Before you begin your thesis, you’ll be assigned to a faculty advisor who will work with you to outline a curriculum to meet your particular research and career goals.
