About Mechanical Engineering Bachelor's Program in Stevens Institute of Technology
From gadgets to medical devices, from air, ground, sea and space vehicles to power plants and industrial machines, and from engines to robots–mechanical engineers design and manufacture systems or parts for nearly every product manufactured throughout the world. The mechanical engineering bachelor's program at Stevens offers students a broad background in engineering and the liberal arts, with the technical skills needed to support the design, testing, and manufacture of these products, systems, and devices.
As the first university to offer a mechanical engineering degree in the U.S., the mechanical engineering program at Stevens strives to educate the complete engineer. Classroom instruction and hands-on lab work come together to give mechanical engineering program students a thorough education on scientific and engineering proficiency, and we instill our students with the values of professionalism, leadership, entrepreneurship, and ethics.
In training students for work in business or industry, or pursue graduate education, we emphasize extensive training in communication, learning how to effectively present technical information orally, visually, and in written form, and encourage them to collaborate with their peers and faculty on a wide range of real world projects.
